Adult Membership
Free membership is available to:
- Ratepayers of the Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes districts.
- Residents over 18 years of age who have been in either district for more than 6 months
- Businesses that have been in either district for more than 6 months
- Loan Limit: up to 50 items at a time
- $1 fee is charged to reserve books
Adult Temporary Membership
Adult temporary membership is available to:
- New residents or visitors over 18 years of age who have been in either district for less than 6 months
- Requires payment of a $40 bond
- Temporary membership may be converted to a permanent membership after 6 months. At this time $40 is refunded. You must collect your refund within one month of the 6 month anniversary of joining, otherwise it is forfeited.
- If you leave the district before 6 months, you are entitled to receive a $20 refund by calling into the library and returning your card
- Children of a temporary borrower may join the library for free as a junior temporary borrower
- Loan limit: maximum of four items at a time
- $1 fee is charged to reserve books
Junior Membership
Children under 18 years of age are encouraged to become members of the library, and are welcome to join at the same time as their parent or guardian, or at a later date.
The type of membership issued will be dependent upon that held by their parent or guardian. Children of a temporary borrower may join the library for free as a junior temporary borrower. Signing as a guarantor indicates acceptance of responsibility for any charges incurred on that card.

Reciprocal Membership
Reciprocal membership is available to you if you have a current library membership card from your home library within New Zealand, and intend using our service for a maximum of one month. We will hold your home library card until you cancel your membership with us.
- $10 non-refundable administration fee
- Loan limit: maximum of 10 items
