Background The Cromwell Public Library is located next to the Cromwell Service Centre within the Cromwell Mall. It has been recently renovated and updated and is very popular with the locals and visitors alike.
The library is spacious and comfortable and has an extensive and wide-ranging collection of books, magazines and audio visual material.
There is a separate Children’s area, with a toy box, colourful cushions and couch. It is a bright and cheerful place for reading the diverse collection of children’s picture, fiction and non-fiction books. CD-ROMs and Audio books are also available for loan.
The Young Adult’s Zone is located next to the Children’s area and is where teenagers can escape into the growing collection of books, teen magazines, fiction, non-fiction, cartoons, graphic novels, and audio books.
Resources Come in and check our library catalogue for information on all the resources available within our district. If an item is not in the library we can often source it from one of the other branches within the district or “interloan” it from another library in New Zealand.
New Books - Once ‘new’ books have been processed and released into the library collection they are displayed on the shelves below the magazines and are available for immediate loan.
Electoral Rolls - The Otago electoral rolls are held in our reference area. All national rolls can be viewed at the Electoral office, The Mall, Cromwell
Local Government - Central Otago District Council meeting agendas and district plan information and Otago Regional Council notifications are held in the reference area of Cromwell Library.
Services Cromwell Public Library is part of the shared Library service for Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes Libraries. Our services, membership, borrowing and issuing policies are consistent throughout all libraries within our district. Inside Cromwell Library
