Dave Osmers Makarora School/Community Library is located at Makarora School and Community Centre, Rata Road, Makarora. It is a joint school and community library and is part of the CODC / QLDC shared library system.

The library is housed in a new addition to the school building completed in 2007. It is a comfortable, sunny, warm room with a pleasant outlook over the school grounds. There are comfortable armchairs and window seats and cushions to lounge on while reading.

A computer is available with broadband Internet access and for browsing the library catalogue.

We have children’s picture book, fiction and non-fiction collections, and young adult fiction. The adult area contains both fiction and non-fiction collections, and a small rotating collection of audio books from the National Library which is changed regularly. We also have a small DVD collection for hire that is changed monthly and a range of magazines and reference books.

A feature of the library is a small but growing reference only section on resources of special interest to Makarora including historical material. In the future it is hoped to included video/ DVD and photographic material.

Another special resource is a collection of Maori language resources that the school makes available to community members.
